What is CAPS?

The CAPS curriculum is designed by the Department of Basic Education in South Africa to ensure that students receive a standardized, high-quality education that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning. The curriculum encompasses a wide range of subjects, emphasizing a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, sciences, and life skills, while offering flexibility to focus on specialized areas in later grades.

The CAPS curriculum prepares students for their final National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations in Grade 12, which opens doors to university access and other post-school opportunities. It is widely recognized both locally and internationally for its academic rigor.

What is SACAI and why accreditation matters?

SACAI (South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute) is one of the accredited assessment bodies that oversee the administration of the NSC examinations for private schools and online institutions. Qurtuba Online Academy is accredited by SACAI, meaning our learners receive the same National Senior Certificate (NSC) as any traditional school, issued by UMALUSI, the quality assurance body for South African education. This ensures that our graduates have the same university access and opportunities as their peers in conventional schools.
