Our story
2019-2020
2019: Qurtuba Online Academy was launched with a vision to bring to the world a new lifestyle and amazing opportunity that would reshape education, especially for the Muslim community. This pre-dated Covid'19. The academy offered limited programmes for Grades 07 to 09 International schooling and online Madrasa.
2020: Reaching 100 learners very quickly despite limited offerings, the interest in QOA and the demand for online schooling increased tremendously. The academy decided to expand their offerings to the South African Curriculum and added Grades 04 to 06. We introduced a bridging programme for learners whose schooling was disrupted due to the pandemic and hence, saved their academic year. QOA assisted over 16 schools to transition to online schooling for free, from sponsoring their web conferencing platform subscriptions to onboarding their teachers and learners and much more.
2021-2022
The year of 2021 welcomed our little angels to the world of schooling. QOA opened their Early Years and Foundation Phase offerings which catered for Grades R to 03. These learners would become the first of their kind to learn literacy and numeracy from scratch in an online environment, progressing gracefully at the naturing and compassionate hands of our amazing educators.
2022: Now accredited to offer the National Senior Certificate qualification, 2022 saw the first batch of Matriculants. QOA topped all other SACAI schools to take the Top Performing School in the SACAI network for Grade 12. One of our learners, Asmaa Paruk took 2nd place in the Matric final assessments and another took 3rd position. Our international curriculum learners participated for the first time in their international GCSE examinations.
2023-2025
Qurtuba Online Academy surpasses 140 staff and 2500 learners. It culminated its portfolio of offerings to offer the South African, International British and Madrasa (Islamic Sciences) Curricula to all grades, from pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12/ Year 13 together with established Virtual Clubs. Virtual Hifz and Ālimiyya classes were also initiated. In 2024, QOA was officially accredited by Pearson Edexcel as an International online centre. Alhamdulillah, all is achieved through the divine grace of the almighty, Allah azza wa jall.

SACAI is accredited by Umalusi to assess the National Senior Certificate (Grades 10-12) based on the South African National Curriculum. Reg. No. 69304

Pearson Edexcel ensures high standards in providing international schooling based on the British Curriculum from pre-K to AS levels.
